Can the Internet heat our communities?

Potential of data centre heat reuse in Europe

The webinar discusses opportunities and challenges for utilising waste heat from data centres. Data centre waste heat is a renewable source of heat, alternative to fossil fuels, which can contribute to a sustainable heating supply in Europe and support the heating sector in achieving the EU’s decarbonisation targets. But what is data centre waste heat’s actual potential and the requirements for unleashing it? By hearing views from a range of stakeholders — from local government, heating providers, a data centre operator, consultants, non-profit sectors, as well as the European Commission — this webinar will investigate practical challenges and illustrate potential solutions for the uptake of heat from data centres through concrete examples of successful multi-stakeholders collaborations.

The webinar will be moderated by Emma Fryer, Director Public Policy, CyrusOne
