New State of European Data Centres 2026 report

State of European Data Centres 2026

The State of European Data Centres 2026 is EUDCA’s flagship annual report, delivering a data-driven overview of Europe’s data centre sector. Developed with national trade associations (NTAs) and leading researchers, the report examines the infrastructure supporting Europe’s digital economy and the forces that will shape its future.

The 2026 edition shows that commercial colocation and hyperscale facilities now provide more than two-thirds of Europe’s IT power, driven by the growing demand for cloud and AI. It explores shifting regional growth patterns across Southern Europe and the Nordics, alongside the impact of new connectivity, renewable energy investment and rising power constraints.

With European IT power demand forecast to grow at a CAGR of 17% through 2031, the report analyses the key challenges, including access to power, cooling innovation, and its growing socio-economic and sustainability contribution. Colocation data centres significantly advanced Europe's 2030 energy, water, and climate goals in 2025 alone, contributing €53 billion to the continent's GDP.

Whether you’re a policymaker, investor, data centre operator, or digital strategist, this report is the critical intelligence you need to navigate the future of digital infrastructure in Europe.
